How-to: Open file or folder properties without context menu

Normally you would access the properties of a file or folder by right-clicking it, then selecting Properties from the appearing context menu. Did you know that you can open these properties without using your mouse?

  • Select the file or folder using the mouse or arrow keys.

  • Press the keyboard shortcut Alt + Enter.

  • The “Properties of” dialog opens instantly.
    You prefer using your mouse? Hold down the Alt key, then double-click the file, folder or application icon.
