Google Wave open for everybody

The social networking tool Google Wave is now available for everybody, without invitations. This is what Google has announced on their developers conference I/O.

Since it was first presented as “successor to e-mail”, the application has changed quite a lot. Google has agreed that Wave works better as tool for group collaboration. Furthermore, the web application has become faster and easier to use.

There are numerous possibilities to make use of Google Wave privately or with your business. Wave can be used when working on a project with multiple people, whether it is an ad campaign or school homework. There is hardly any other web application providing that many useful features for working as a group.

In May 2009, Google Wave had been announced as successor to e-mail. Chatting, mailing and working together and at the same time on a text - Google wants to merge all of this in one piece of software. When communicating, the service is different from e-mail in some points. For instance, you can add new users to a conversation at any time. With e-mail, you would have to forward the complete conversation to the new contact. Google Wave displays it instantly. You can even view the conversation history by using a small movie.

With classic e-mails, you can quote a certain passage by copying it. With Google Wave though, just type your comment at the appropriate place — all conversation members will get to see your change instantly. You can even tell Wave that anything you type should appear “live” in the system. Every single letter that a person types will appear in the Wave instantly.
